Tis a 2015 Ram 1500 Black Express edition... it has the standard non-projector headlights. The highbeams are fine but regular driving at night I wish the headlights were better. Any suggestions for which bulbs to get? Preferably under $40. Thanks.

The second from top line Sylvania lights are $36 for a pair for my Subaru but I feel like they may be pricier for a Ram. Not sure though.

I had the exact same truck with the exact same headlights. Get yourself this HID kit. Its not expensive, 55w, has lasted a long time in several of my vehicles, and its bright as f*

Unrelated, but that’s a sweet Suburban 2500 you’re parked next to.

They are still selling non-projector halogen lights in ... (you got it last year, right??)?
I have those on my Accord and noticed that in bumper to bumper traffic my lights are so dim that I have a shadow the rough size and shape of my car in my own light beam, meaning that all the cars’s headlights around and behind me are sooooo much brighter. I use the most expensive bulbs. Hella or Bosch, whatever they carry when I need new ones, and while they are a noticeable improvement over the cheap ones, I still have said shadow in front of my car.
Was there an option package with better headlights for your truck? How much is it to retrofit those?
In my opinion, non-projector halogens are just dated tech. These expensive bulbs help, but they can only go so far. For me, I just file it under “reason number 57 why it makes sense to buy a newer car in the not to distant future”. But for you, with a vehicle you just bought new somewhat recently, maybe biting the bullet and upgrading is worth looking into.

Yeah it’s a sweet fire department truck that is always there on weekends.

Yeah I generally much prefer projector lights but this truck in particular was on sale for a low price so I ended up leasing it... hence why I want to do a bulb swap. The projector ones look like this

I picked these up for my 2009 Accent a few weeks ago on Amazon - no complaint so far!

Hmmm, I see. Upgrading on a lease would be like installing cable in a port-a-potty. Avoid the ones that promise blue light to mimick xenons, tried them out and while they were blue-ish they were darker than the cheap normal bulbs.
I have my low-beams on all the time (no DRLs) as it helps with being seen even in broad daylight, so I have to get new bulbs every 1-2 years. Top shelf brand stuff for me. I think I have Phillips in it right now, but I’ve had Bosch and Hella as well, and I couldn’t see a difference. Only when you have one of the cheap ones and one of the better ones is where you see that one side is darker.

That’s what I have in my car as well. They get the best out of outdated tech.

Don’t put too powerful bulbs in your housings, that’s a good way to melt them or your wiring.
Don’t put HIDs in reflector housings, unless you’re putting a whole projector in.
Don’t buy blue bulbs ever.
For your low beams, it looks like they’re H11s. The true European Osram Silverstars (not the blue Sylvania ones sold in the US) are available in H11, looks like the part number you want is 64211SV2.
Good thing you’re happy with your high beams, because those are 9005s, and you can’t get true Silverstars in 9005s.

I have a 2014 with the projectors, still terrible. I upgraded to LED bulbs. Specifically the ones I will put below. They are more than what you are looking to spend, however they had a satisfaction guaranteed up to a year, return and get your money back. They also have Lifetime guarantee as well. They put out a lot more light, very satisfied with them.

As someone who shares the road with a ton of full-size trucks all the time, can I beg you not to upgrade? Your headlights are above my mirror height, and windshield height. And my Jeep is pretty far from the lowest thing out there. Please be considerate.
